WeChat – How to Mention a Friend in Moments

WeChat, like any other messaging application, becomes even better with every update and every addition. For this reason, users need to stay in touch with the latest offerings, the latest features added, in order to use WeChat at its maximum capacity.

One of the most debatable features that WeChat is offering is Moments. Moments transforms WeChat into a social network, a place where you can keep in touch with your friends, see their updates, news and photos.

Here, you can add profile pictures, cover photos, share videos, photos and text messages. However, for some people, especially for those who use the platform strictly to chat and call, Moments can turn out to be pretty complicated. In this respect, I want to show you how you can use Moments, and how you can mention your friends in your posts.

If you already use Facebook, then you know you can tag someone in a photo or mention them in a post or a comment. That gets their attention, and you make sure they do not miss it. On WeChat, the process is slightly different. Therefore, make sure you follow the instructions posted bellow, and you will be able to mention any friend you want.

How to Mention a Friend in Moments

1. From any WeChat screen, head over to Discover or Social, depending on the platform you are using. Here, you will be able to see Moments. Press on it.
2. Here, press the icon of the camera up on the top right and Choose your source.
3. Once you have the photos selected, press Done and this sharing screen comes up.
4. I am sure that you are already familiar with this process, but now there is also a new option there, the @Mention button. Click on Mention.
5. When you press the big+ sign to mention contacts in this post, your contact list pops up, allowing you to select up to 10 names to mention on this one post.
6. Type in a description, if you want, then hit Send. If you want to limit your sharing to certain contacts, do that before you press Send.

At this point, the contact that is mentioned will get a notification of a message in Moments, the next time they will open WeChat on PC. Keep in mind that if someone has mentioned you in a Moment post, there is nothing you can do about it. You cannot remove this mention, but your friend can delete the post. This is all. You may know mention your close friends in engaging posts and moments.

With the help of a third-party Android emulator, you can install WeChat on your computer and use almost the same features on a bigger screen.
